"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."
I ended up ranked #6 overall out of 110 players on the NFL pick'ems in nflfans.

Not to shabby. Not too shabby at all. I might even have a second banner. That would rock too.

So long 2009 football season. Playoffs, Superbowl and Pro Bowl left on the schedule.

Now to fill in the dead, black hole space in between the draft and training camp.

Birthday Party Post!

First off I want to thank all the "happy birthday" posts on FB. They were awesome. Thanks to everyone who came to my party. I feel truly blessed by whatever is out there. I had a purple iCarly birthday. For those who don't know, in the deepest, darkest moments this past year when I was catatonic on the couch I watched Spongebob and iCarly. iCarly was the only thing to make me smile just a little bit. At my party there was a lot of "Random Dancing," good music playing, good food, good company, purple happy beads that I made everyone wear, and a lot of just pure happiness. Danielle played the Eagles Fight Song for all of us as well (Maddie sang proudly!). I wore my pink "birthday princess" party hat and truly made it a good day. I was really worried about Justin's son who is severly allergic to cats. I cleaned the day before for three hours trying to reduce every allergen I could. He stayed the whole time with not so much as a sniffle. Jason, Meghan, Matt and John all firespun for me for my present. We all cleaned up a bit and then I went to bed. I'm up earlier than I should. Maddie is still asleep (remarkably). She crashed out hard on the couch watching iCarly. :) OK, so on to pictures.

Cut so as not to kill your computerCollapse )

Reading List

I usually post this to a book community but I unsubbed. I had too many communities. I didn't reach my goal of 50. I would have but I read nothing from September 18th until just the last week of December. I finished my first new book on the 31st. I had re-read Fellowship because it was a safe mental place. I'll cut this for those who don't care.

He that loves a book will never want a faithful friend, a wholesome counselor, a cheerful companion, an effectual comforter. By study, by reading, by thinking, one may innocently divert and pleasantly entertain himself, as in all weathers, as in all fortunes.Collapse )

Dec. 31st, 2009

Tuesday one of my favorite professors died. He was a certifiable whack job...and I loved him. Took three of his classes by choice when everyone said to avoid him like the plague.

Good-bye Professor Blue. Thank you for indulging the Sci-Fi nerd in me (because you were one yourself). You will be missed.

Mama knows her football

This is my winning banner and I'm #4 this week cumulative. Down from #2 but the last two weeks were WIERD!

For any and all that were intersted in my opinion of the movie The Road.

If Viggo doesn't win the Best Actor Oscar it's all a fucking sham.

If anyone is familiar with iCarly, Sam is a co-hostess to the iCarly web show. Sam is a total anti-vegetarian who has a rotisserie in her locker and is often physically violent...my favorite character of course. For the web show she has a remote control that makes sound effects. I bought a replica of the remote for Maddie for Christmas. She asked me if she could do something today (and I honestly forgot what it was). I said "no" firmly and started walking upstairs. She pressed the remote button that went, Boooooooooo!!!!!!.

Something tells me this remote is going to be freakin' hilarious!

Yes. I am now an iCarly junkie.

Merry Christmas

My favorite scene from my favorite version of my favorite Christmas book. It's not the complete scene but enough. I have watched this movie on Christmas Eve for the last nine years. This is the first year I will watch it alone. I'm quite sure I'll still feel the same thing as I have for near the last decade. There are just some things that cannot be taken away from you no matter how hard others try.

"I will honour Christmas in my heart, and try to keep it all the year. I will live in the Past, the Present, and the Future. The Spirits of all Three shall strive within me. I will not shut out the lessons that they teach."
- A Christmas Carol, Charles Dickens
